Swashbuckling left-hander Rinku Singh has earned a call-up to the India B squad for the Duleep Trophy 2024. Initially left out of the tournament, Rinku’s recent standout performances in the UP T20 League for the Meerut Mavericks secured him a spot. He will now join India B for their upcoming match against India C on September 12.
Rinku, who missed the first set of Duleep Trophy matches due to his UP T20 commitments, expressed initial disappointment at being overlooked but later shared his happiness at finally being selected. As a white-ball specialist with 23 T20I and two ODI appearances for India, Rinku has built a reputation as a finisher, often drawing comparisons to MS Dhoni.
With the spotlight now on him, Rinku aims to prove his worth in the red-ball format and strengthen his case for future selections.
In addition to Rinku, Aaqib Khan has also received a call-up for the Duleep Trophy. The India B squad, led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, includes notable players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Rishabh Pant.
Meanwhile, the BCCI recently announced India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, with Rinku Singh not included in the lineup.
