India will face Bangladesh in a home Test series starting September 19. Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, clearly stated that the upcoming series is more than just a warm-up for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, set to begin in November.
Sharma highlighted that every match is crucial, and the team is focused on starting the season strong. The two-Test series against Bangladesh kicks off a busy schedule for Team India, with 10 matches lined up, culminating in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit stressed the importance of focusing on the immediate challenge rather than looking too far ahead.
“No dress rehearsals here. Every game counts. No matter where we play, we aim to win, starting with this Test and series. We’re not thinking too far ahead, just taking it one match at a time,” Rohit said during a pre-match press conference.
Preparation Camp in Chennai
Team India has been preparing for the series with a training camp in Chennai, which started a week before the first Test. Key players, including Rohit and Virat Kohli, have been active participants since day one. Rohit also mentioned the importance of the camp, especially for players who have been out of action or played in the Duleep Trophy.
“We needed this camp after a break. It’s important to get everyone back together, especially for those who played in the Duleep Trophy or haven’t played much recently. We’ve prepared well for this series and what’s coming ahead,” Rohit added.
